Hi!
On Monday I started to feel unwell. By Tuesday evening I had a fever of 39.8°C (103.6°F). I asked the concierge of my building if any hospitals were still open at this late hour, and he immediately called an ambulance.
Long story short, I have COVID.
My whole body hurts, but the pain in my head and throat is especially overbearing. I weave through different layers of consciousness. During sleep my mind often descends into a disorganized chaos that leaves me utterly confused. I sleep almost all day.
I have some trouble breathing and in the ambulance and the hospital the low oxygen alarm constantly screamed and lit up. Just a few minutes ago I was close to passing out.
For a while I won’t be able to do anything that requires my brain to go in overdrive.
It will likely take until next month before I can complete the final installment of my essay about Jūnisō Pond and Nishi-Shinjuku.
My sincerest apologies.
Interesting tidbit: the ambulance took me to a hospital in Nishi-Shinjuku! Fate has a sense of humor, albeit a crude one.
May I ask you for a favor?
I am now unable to share Part 4 on SNS platforms to get the word out. Could you be so kind to share it with a brief summary, write-up, or an explanation why you like this series?
It would help me enormously!
Thank you in advance,
Kjeld
Hello Kjeld,
I’m so sorry to hear of your having Covid. Please, do not concern yourself with your postings of Old Japan. We will be here anxiously awaiting Part 4 when it is appropriate for you and at your convenience. I’m not a physician. When you are able, check out Dr. John Campbell’s YouTube channel. He has over a million subscribers. I have followed him for the past four or five years as he very calmly presents the latest research from all over the world as it relates to Covid, treatments and especially the vaccine research that has been done since 2020. Please, use caution when considering additional vaccinations.
I will keep you in my prayers for a speedy recovery. I probably, at least daily, think about my 18 months spent there on the Kanto Plain at NAS Atsugi. Your postings keep me mindful of those days spent there as a much younger man.
Please, get well!
